Recovery of bottom discharge of the Pozzillo dam, municipality of Regalbuto (Enna)
The project to restore the bottom drain, with new entrance at an altitude of 333 m above sea level, involves the construction of some new artifacts necessary to connect the new entrance with the existing bottom drain tunnel, now buried upstream of the drain gates.
Works to be designed for the construction of the new bottom discharge:
· New inlet structure of the bottom drain, placed at an altitude of 333.0 m asl, near the entrance of the work of taking the derivation of Regalbuto.
· Connection between the new inlet structure at an altitude of 333 m above sea level and the existing tunnel of the bottom outlet at an altitude of 317 m asl with a total development of approximately 43 m in axis consisting of a slightly sloping tunnel section of about 15 m and a second curvilinear section and inclined 45 ° of about 17 m, the internal diameter of the second section will vary from 5 m to 333 m to 4.3 m but to a meager 317 m. The strokes will be connected with circular curves.
· A vertical well to realize the new works and for the insertion of these with the existing drainage tunnel. The well will enter the plateau at an altitude of approximately 353.5 m, in front of the surface discharge and will be about 38 m deep to reach the 315 m asl level and intercept the existing tunnel.
· Works for the recovery and functional restoration of the tunnel section downstream of the interception well and up to the outlet in the damping tank
· Defense works for the construction of the riverbed and the construction of the new work of inlet of the bottom drain consisting of piling or other work to support the dredged volume
· Environmental engineering works on the left bank downstream dam to counteract the erosion phenomena to protect the bottom drain tunnel
· Grid maintenance and cleaning and electro-irrigation derivation
· Works necessary for the seismic adaptation of the dam’s watchtower
· Extraordinary maintenance of the metal cladding of the upstream facing of the dam by painting the metal coating
